SSA to undergo a "massive reorganization"

But, it will NOT be a 50% reduction in workforce.

Previous rumors indicated that the reduction in force was possibly going to be as much as 50% of the workforce. However, there were conflicting reports.

SSA issued a press release on February 28, 2025, clarifying the expected reduction in workforce. SSA expects to reduce the workforce from 57,000 down to 50,000. In other words, SSA expects to cut 7,000 jobs (approximately 12%).
